The 6ft 2in striker became manager Paul Lamberts second signing of the summer, marking the next step in a remarkable tale as Morison went from paper shredder to Premier League footballer in the space of a magnificent seven years.

Morisons career began at Northampton Town, where he had progressed from the youth ranks to the first team, but then manager Colin Calderwood sold him to Bishops Stortford.

The dream was fading as he combined a job with a paper shredding company in Potters Bar, and its 4am starts, with playing for Stortford. But 28 goals in 18 months earned him a move to Stevenage Borough, where he again scored for fun.

A tally of 31 goals in 2008/09 alerted Millwall, who gave him another opportunity at league level. This time he made his point, with 21 league goals in his first season helping the Londoners to promotion from League One through the play-offs.

Morison earned a call-up for Wales and finished the 2010/11 with a haul of 17 goals.
