After their victory over Reading last week it was a case of one step forward and two back for city's academy under 18s side as they were well beaten by Spurs at Colney this morning with the visitors' four goals all coming in the second half.

It was Spurs who started the sharpest with giant striker Tomas Pekhart sending a volley just wide of the city goal. Norwich had Rossi Jarvis in their starting line up and it was a header from him back into the danger area that saw Alvin Quaye fire wide from just five yards.

The action quickly switched to the other end where city keeper Steve Arnold produced a good save to deny Terry Dixon.

Jarvis was getting forward at every opportunity and once again he headed a ball back across goal, this time it was Kurtis Byrne heading the ball over the crossbar.

Having scored for the reserves during the week Ross Kelly tried his luck from 25 yards but his shot was just over the crossbar.

Into first half injury time and city had their best chance of the half when Byrne sent a shot across the goal when he might have done better to pick out an unmarked Luke Daley.

Just 10 minutes into the second half and Spurs took the lead when substitute Matthew WELLS found the space following a left wing cross to fire the ball into the roof of the net. Spurs then extended their lead on the hour mark when David HUTTON was well place to head home a right wing cross.

Just 10 minutes later city were caught napping with a well worked free kick allowing PEKHART to volley the ball home.

Quaye went close for city when he sent a Jamie Eames corner just over the bar but the rout was completed on 75 minutes when HUTTON scored his second and Spurs fourth.
