Match-winner Nelson Oliveira dedicated victory over Aston Villa to Norwich City's supporters - and hopes there will be more to come in two days' time.
The Portuguese summer signing’s composed strike was the least the Canaries deserved against a poor Villa at Carrow Road on Tuesday night.
More important than that, successive home clean sheets and wins is a platform City will already look to build on when Huddersfield visit on Friday evening – again, in front of the live Sky Sports cameras.
“The fans were amazing, we felt they supported us very hard and that is good for us,” said Oliveira, after notching his third goal in three games.
“We played well and this win is for them as well, because we want to go up in the table. We are a better team than many that are higher than us. So let’s keep working and go for the top places.”
On his 62nd-minute goal, Oliveira added: “I saw the defender in front of the goalkeeper and the goalkeeper maybe doesn’t expect that I shoot so quickly. Maybe he thinks I’ll take another touch. I put the ball in the corner and luckily I scored.”
Oliveira’s strike could not lift City back into the play-off places but the top end of the Championship table already looks congested.
Meanwhile the striker afforded his City compatriot praise, after being teed up by him for the second time in four days.
“He is a beast, physically,” Oliveira said of right-back Ivo Pinto. “I can’t run like him – it’s not a Portuguese thing because I cannot do the same! I think he can finish one game and then play another, because he can run a lot.
“At Barnsley it was his assist from the throw-in too. It’s the Portuguese connection!”
