Glenn Roeder is set to reveal within a matter of days which way his axe has fallen on Norwich City's playing staff.

Three senior players - Darren Huckerby, skipper Mark Fotheringham and defender Gary Doherty - are out of contract this summer.

Huckerby's name has been on everyone's lips after four and a half years as City's fans' favourite, but the great debate over his future is about to be settled, with Roeder expected to reveal his fate less than 48 hours after the whistle has blown on the final game of a tumultuous season.

“We will basically be able to do that in one fell swoop on Tuesday or Wednesday,” said Roeder. “That will be the right time, once the season is complete.”

The wheels will then be set in motion for a new intake of players which could run into double figures as Roeder seeks to reverse the fortunes of a team which was on its knees when he took over at the end of October and which only guaranteed its Championship status a week ago.

Roeder loses the services of the retiring Dion Dublin after tomorrow's game at Sheffield Wednesday, a loss which has almost overshadowed the departures of a clutch of loan players who have helped pull City out of trouble.

Ched Evans, Ryan Bertrand, Alex Pearce and Mo Camara could all feature at Hillsborough, while Kieran Gibbs, who returned to Arsenal on Monday, will travel with the Canaries.

Camara, at the age of 32, is unlikely to return, but Roeder clearly hasn't given up on at least one of the younger contingent heading back to Carrow Road next season.

“I think there is a chance,” he admitted. “But I am not going to say which ones, I am not going to say how big the chance is, but I would like to see all the young ones back - it's unlikely, but I would like that.”
