Lee Croft paid the price for showboating when he was "hooked" by manager Peter Grant with almost 25 minutes of Saturday's FA up tie remaining.

The Canaries right winger was replaced by Carl Robinson with City holding a four-goal lead, with Grant later explaining what had cost the former Manchester City man.

"Lee Croft does a backheel and that's why he's standing next to me," he said. "I ain't for that - I'm all about winning the game.

"We are not here to tickle any professional players or any semi-pro players, we are here to do our job properly, and that's the reason our substitution was made. We have got to do our job properly if we want to make the next step."

Croft was unaware of the reasoning behind Grant's decision, but insisted he was treating the non-league team with due respect.

"I didn't know that," he said. "Obviously the gaffer didn't want us taking the mick, and we treated them properly. I think we showed them respect.

"But I think that's part of my game - I do backheels and flicks whatever game we play in."

Croft is now looking forward to today's draw - and using Saturday's result to help City's Championship form.

"It's important to take this win and take it back into the league," he said. "It's different to what we are used to week in, week out but it was a good atmosphere and a good result, and a win under out belt is always good.

"Now it's important to progress so one of the lower teams would be good to give us a chance of doing that. Saying that, a better team gives us a chance to pit our wits against a team maybe from the Premier League - whichever way you look at it it's exciting."
