Relegated Norwich City are among the early favourites for promotion from League One next season after the release of the first odds on the new campaign.

Supporters have given the Canaries a mixed message by buying 18,000 season tickets, but also giving the board an overwhelming vote of “no confidence” at last week's public meeting staged at St Andrew's Hall by Norwich City Independent Supporters' Association.

But the signs are that the bookmakers are keeping faith with City. Skybet make them 9/4 to return to the Championship at the first attempt and 7-1 to go up as League One champions.

Leeds United, fresh from their play-off semi-final defeat by Millwall, are already odds-on favourites to be promoted at 8/11.

Charlton, who finished bottom of the Championship but beat Bryan Gunn's men 4-2 on the final day of the season, are 15/8 to go up.

Leeds are also favourites with Skybet to win the League One title at 7/2, with Charlton and the Canaries both 7/1 to be champions, and Milton Keynes Dons 8/1 after their play-off semi-final defeat by Scunthorpe. The other relegated side, Southampton, starting the season with a 10-point deficit after going into administration, are 16/1 to win the title.

All but two of City's 23 opponents next season are now known. The list will be completed by the losers of the Millwall-Scunthorpe League One play-off final on Sunday, and the winners of the Gillingham-Shrewsbury League Two play-off final on Saturday.

Fixtures for 2009-10 will be released on Wednesday, June 17, with the season starting on Saturday, August 8.

Carling Cup first round matches will be played in the week starting Monday, August 10.

The Johnstone's Paint Trophy gets under way with first round games in the week starting Monday, August 31. The final is at Wembley on Sunday, March 28.

The League One season ends on Saturday, May 8, with the League One play-off final on Saturday, May 29.
