Daniel Farke insists it is the support of Norwich City’s fans that convinces him the Canaries can still beat the odds in the Premier League relegation fight.

City remained seven points from safety after a 1-0 defeat to champions-in-waiting Liverpool at Carrow Road coupled with Aston Villa's stoppage time home defeat to Tottenham on Sunday.

Farke and his players were applauded down the tunnel at the end, and that level of backing was music to the head coach's ears.

"That is outstanding when you consider the team and the club is bottom of the table but they have a good sense of what we are trying to do and the players will always try to leave their heart on the pitch," he said. "It has been a difficult season but I am pretty happy we have this special bond and with this atmosphere it gives us the belief to go further on.

"In the end it could make the difference. I have to say I am pretty proud of our supporters.

"From the first moment they were with us and this was something we spoke about before the game. We needed everyone switched on. There were difficult periods but we retained that unity and togetherness."

Farke has set his boys a target of six league wins from the next 11 games to keep their Premier League hopes alive.

"All the other games will need a different approach, different topics where we have to be good. It is not like pressing a button and repeating this Liverpool performance," he said.

"We can take lots of confidence but because of the injury curse at the start of the season we are in the worst position and it will be a long road.

"We need at least six wins from the next 11 to give us a chance when we travel to Manchester City but I still believe in my players and we can achieve this little miracle."
