Daniel Farke is not getting carried away by rival Championship managers queuing up to lavish praise on him for turning Norwich City into title contenders.

City can move five points clear of second-placed Leeds on Friday night if they beat Graham Potter’s Swansea City at Carrow Road.

The Swans’ chief claimed in the build up Farke is doing the best coaching job in the entire country this season, which followed glowing tributes from the likes of Phil Parkinson and Neil Harris after running into the red hot Canaries in recent weeks.

“It is a great honour and I am really thankful,” said Farke. “It is not like just anyone is speaking but excellent, high class coaches.

“Of course as a club we are happy to be praised in this way. You speak about guys like Phil Parkinson and Neil Harris and they are experienced guys.

“I have a lot of respect for people who have proved over a longer period they can build something that lasts.

“Graham is doing a brilliant job in a difficult situation. I like how he plays the game. It is always good if someone praises your work and the work of your club and a good compliment to the players as well. It is always hard the season after relegation, and they still have a chance to make a late push for the play-offs.”

Potter’s side were hammered 4-1 in the corresponding league fixture, and the Swans’ boss is keen to use Farke as an inspiration for his own salvage operation.

“I don’t think any coach has done a better job than Daniel this season at Norwich,” he said.

“Norwich should be an inspiration for every football club.

“They faced relegation, they restructured their club, they sold some key players for good transfer fees, but were brave enough to carry on with their development and invest their money in other areas.

“Now look where they are. It is a fantastic achievement and all credit to them – they are the best team in our league.

“We started the game quite well against them at home and were probably the better team for the first 15 minutes. But then they punished us and it wasn’t a nice experience for us after that.

“They play really good football and they have grown and grown as a team.

“They didn’t start the season well, but they’ve stuck with it.”
