Daniel Farke fears Tom Trybull's season is over after suffering an ankle injury in the 2-2 Easter Monday Championship draw at Stoke City.

Trybull has been an influential figure in recent weeks but was replaced by Mario Vrancic early in the second half of a frustrating draw in the Potteries.

Norwich led twice through Onel Hernandez and Teemu Pukki but Ashley Williams and Tom Edwards cashed in on defensive errors.

City's lead at the top was cut to three points after Sheffield United's 3-0 away win at Hull, with Leeds able to draw level with the Blades if they win at Brentford in the later kick off.

Trybull will now be assessed by City's medical staff when they return to Norfolk, but Farke is not optimistic.

“He rolled his ankle. Sadly that is why I had to substitute him,” said the head coach. “Bad luck in this situation because he is always crucial for our balance and stability in the centre. After conceding the goal then to have to substitute him did not also help in these moments.

“We wait now for what the doctors have to say. I hope it is not the end of the season for him. It was pretty painful and it is also a bit swollen so let's wait for the scan.

“Mario came on and needed a bit of time to find his rhythm. But with him and Moritz (Leitner) we were able to calm down the game. He produced an outstanding chip for Teemu Pukki.”
