Daniel Farke admits he is not short of options to replace the suspended Emi Buendia for Norwich City's midweek Championship game against Reading.

The City boss confirmed at Colney on Tuesday afternoon he has no fresh injury concerns, ahead of the Royals’ test, but must make at least one change to his starting line up for the first time in nine matches with Buendia serving the first of a three match ban for his QPR red card.

Buendia was dismissed in the second half of Saturday’s 4-0 Championship home win for a lunging challenge on Josh Scowen that earned him a sending off for serious foul play.

Todd Cantwell comes into contention, while the likes of Moritz Leitner and Mario Vrancic also look viable alternatives as Farke shuffles his midfield.

“A really difficult decision,” said Farke. “Since the ban was confirmed I have had to think about these things. Either you replace this position just like-for-like with a player who is a specialist in this position or who can play in that area. Or you change the balance of the team. The gut feeling will decide if we switch players or make a like-for-like.

“I have a tendency in my head right now but I will not share that with you. It is not my final decision yet.”

Carlton Morris made his comeback from an ankle injury in a development defeat at Southampton last week.

Nelson Oliveira is ineligible to face his parent club under the terms of his original loan switch to the relegation-threatened Royals in January.
