We rocked the league. Now we get to play in the best league in the world. So says Daniel Farke, after plotting Norwich City's stunning Championship promotion success.

The Canaries guaranteed their place in the Premier League with a 2-1 home win over Blackburn on Saturday night - clinching promotion at Carrow Road for the first time since 1960.

That sparked epic celebrations on the final whistle that will last a few more days yet, before Farke sets about the task of winning the title at Aston Villa next Sunday.

“Of course, the title would be the icing on the cake. But we already have the cake. That is the most important thing,” he said. “It would be fully deserved if we finish in style but we know Aston Villa will be highly motivated going into the play-offs. Of course we want a good result.

“This dressing room is unstoppable. I said this recently. All credit to our fighting spirit. I can't praise them enough. Of course they were a bit nervous and we had to stay disciplined until the end but we finished in style.

“The only word I can use is surreal. We should have won the game 8-1, 9-1. They had one shot on our goal and it was in. I think their player should have been sent off for fouling Teemu Pukki in the first half. There was also a handball for me in the first half.”

Farke and his players will attend the club's end-of-season dinner on Sunday, but the head coach wants the party to continue.

“The next few days I don't want to see them at all. Not on the training pitch,” he said. “When you have something to enjoy it is important you do, otherwise you ask yourself one day, 'Why was I doing all this disciplined, hard work?' They are allowed to celebrate. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday will be days off. Then we might have a short session on Wednesday.

“We rocked the league. Now we have the opportunity to play in the best league in the world.”
