Josh Murphy lit up Norwich City’s best home performance of the season for Daniel Farke in a 3-1 Championship win over Aston Villa.
Murphy scored a stunning 25-yard goal and then triggered the moves that led to Dennis Srbeny and James Maddison’s goals.
“It was an outstanding goal,” said Farke. “Josh is capable of those strikes and he works a lot on that. It is sometimes frustrating when he hits the ball to the stand.
“He has his technique and the ability to do that. He was brave as well to be convinced and focused enough to make such a great strike. I was pleased for him.
“Then he was important for the other two goals. He gets criticised for not being good in his defensive behaviour at times but you have to support a young lad who has a good attitude.
“Yes (the best at home). I got the feeling it was a really good performance. There was 20 minutes in the second half when we dropped a bit deeper. We changed the system and got the control back and could have scored four or five goals.
“When you have two losses in a row and I criticised the lads after QPR for the second half but from the first minute I got the reaction I wanted.
“We needed to be really strong in the duels and we won most of those. We didn’t give away one chance in the first half against a good Villa side with many threats and high quality.
“We had several periods in the first half when we were good but for 20 minutes we took the wrong decisions. Then the goal helped the self-confidence.”
