‘It is horrible’ - Daniel Farke on the painful late defeat at Sheffield United that prolonged City’s winless Championship start

Daniel Farke is keeping a cool head after Norwich City’s search for a first Championship victory of the season continued in a stoppage time 2-1 defeat at Sheffield United.
Billy Sharp pounced in the 93rd minute after City appeared to have survived a barrage of crosses with only John Egan’s looping header beating Tim Krul in the first half.
Jordan Rhodes levelled with a rapier counter prior to the interval but Norwich were again made to pay for a lack of clinical intent in both penalty boxes.
Moritz Leitner spurned a one-on-one chance against Blades’ keeper Dean Henderson before Teemu Pukki hooked over after Rhodes’ flick header had cannoned off the post.
Farke knows the pressure is on after one point from the opening nine available.
“Of course there is pressure to win games,” he said. “I saw some statistics before the game and we were in position one in possession in this league, in shots, in shots on the goal and we are now in the table 18th, 19th or something like this.
“It is horrible but in football you have to take the credit when you earn it. Both sides had chances. To be here with one point after our first three league games is ridiculous.
“It is a fact and we have to handle the fact and go on with good performances and win points.
“That is why we are playing football. Yes, it is annoying and it doesn’t help the self-confidence when you can’t bring good performances into points.
“But we have a squad with some experienced players and they will not lose the nerve. We have to go further on and force a win. But to do that we have to be clinical. We missed a penalty the other day and here we had a three against one.
“That is even a bigger chance for me. We have to cut out the mistakes.
“I had the feeling in general football is determined by small situations and we have to be focused on them. When you are trying to force a result the most important thing is to be solid in front of your goal.
“In many situations we were good but we did not defend this situation right at the end and we must speak about this topic.”
