Norwich City legend Wes Hoolahan is reportedly heading to Australia, after turning down the chance to join Cambridge United.

The League Two side were left disappointed earlier this week when the former Republic of Ireland international decided not to sign on after spending pre-season with the U's, as he was set to pursue an overseas opportunity.

The Irish Sun now claim that will be with Newcastle Jets, taking the 37-year-old Down Under for the new A-League season, which is scheduled to start in October.

Another Norwich legend, Ian Crook, also had two spells with the Jets. Crook began his coaching career with the New South Wales club and enjoyed a successful spell between 2001 and 2004 before going on to coach the Australia U20s team, and returned for a brief second spell as technical director in 2008, before returning to Norwich as part of Bryan Gunn's coaching staff in 2009.

Hoolahan scored 54 goals in 352 games for Norwich between 2008 and 2018. He spent much of last season on the fringes at West Brom and was a free agent this summer.

Newcastle were A-League runners-up in 2008 and 2018, winning the Grand Finals in 2008.
