The Premier League appear set to suspend all fixtures until the weekend of April 4 at an emergency meeting on Friday morning, as the football authorities react to the spread of coronavirus.

The Daily Mail's Matt Hughes reports all Premier League and Football League games are set to be suspended until early next month, with an announcement set for around 11am.

Earlier in the morning Dan Roan, BBC sports editor, reported that is the likely course of action following a conference call involving all 20 top flight clubs - including Norwich City - scheduled for 10:30am.

All the other major European football leagues have already suspended games but the overnight news of positive Covid-19 tests for Chelsea's Callum Hudson-Odoi and Arsenal's Mikel Arteta prompted the Premier League to act.

Roan claims abandoning the competition is 'unlikley at this stage'. The Football League looks set to follow suit as well.

Norwich City is scheduled to face Southampton in the Premier League at Carrow Road on Saturday and have an FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester United the following weekend prior to the international break.

Roan believes any suspension would run past that international shutdown.

The Canaries continue to monitor the situation and await guidance from the Premier League.

City chief Daniel Farke is scheduled to hold his pre-match press conference on Friday lunchtime to preview the Saints' visit but that is now likely to hinge on the outcome of the Premier League's emergency meeting.
