Rayo Vallecano’s impressive wide player Adrián Embarba is leading the way in Spain’s Segunda Division - and that has reportedly attracted Norwich City’s attention.
Embarba has a league-best 10 assists and seven goals in the Spanish second tier for Vallecano, who need a big second half of the season to force their way into the play-off places, following relegation from La Liga last year.
Spanish daily sports newspaper, Mundo Deportivo, claim Embarba's hot streak has alerted La Liga duo Real Betis and bottom club Espanyol, with Norwich leading 'interest' from England along with West Ham in the €9m rated attacker.
The 27-year-old was touted with a move to Real Betis following Vallecano's demotion in the summer of 2019, but a reported €5m enquiry was turned down for Embarba, who is now approaching the final 18 months of his current deal.
Embarba was one of Vallecano's shining lights in their relegation season, scoring five goals and six assists, and topped that in 2017/18 as Vallecano won the Segunda Division title, notching eight times and weighing in with 13 assists.
City have so far brought in Ondrej Duda on a half season loan from Hertha Berlin and a permanent deal for Lukas Rupp from Hoffenheim. Both made debuts in Saturday's vital 1-0 Premier League home win over Bournemouth.
Head coach Daniel Farke appeared to rule out any central defensive or striker additions in the closing two weeks of the window on Friday but did make it clear City had prioritised reinforcements in wide areas and the number 10 role.
Duda appears to have solved the latter problem position, given an eye-catching performance against the Cherries.
Rupp can play anywhere down the right flank but Farke hinted he may in time be a central midfield option, with Alex Tettey out of contract at the end of the campaign and Mario Vrancic's deal running until 2021.
