Norwich City forward Dennis Srbeny is being linked with a surprise return to SC Paderborn this month.

Srbeny has sat out the Canaries last two league and cup tussles with what head coach Daniel Farke said was a back complaint but the 25-year-old is reportedly interesting the Bundesliga bottom club.

Kicker report on Sunday evening Srbeny is wanted by his previous club for the remainder of this season to provide attacking competition, ahead of the return to league action in Germany following the mid-winter break.

Srbeny was plucked from the then third tier side back in January 2018 but Paderborn continued their rise to the top league in German football under Steffen Baumgart.

The frontman notched his first Premier League goal in the recent away win at Everton but has largely been an understudy at Carrow Road to Teemu Pukki. The Berliner has scored five goals in 46 appearances, although the bulk of those have come from the substitutes' bench.

Teenage frontman Adam Idah grabbed his chance with Pukki, Srbeny and Josip Drmic all sidelined at the weekend to notch a hat-trick on his second senior start in the 4-2 FA Cup third round win at Preston.

Idah was himself set for a loan move in a bid for regular football this month, with a host of League One clubs interested in the Republic of Ireland Under-21 talent.

But Farke reiterated after his Deepdale display, Idah will remain at Carrow Road for the foreseeable future.

Srbeny's compatriot, Philip Heise, sealed a loan move to FC Nurenburg over the weekend.
