Norwich City full back Max Aarons will not be heading to European giants Bayern Munich, according to fresh reports in Germany.
The young defender was touted with both Bayern and Bundesliga rivals Bayer Leverkusen in recent days following the Canaries’ relegation, with Sky Sports Germany suggesting Bayern had identified the €20m rated Aarons as a possible back up to French World Cup winner Benjamin Pavard.
But respected German football magazine, Kicker, claim on Thursday morning a ‘Norwich insider’ believes Aarons will snub any potential overseas interest and seal a Premier League move.
The 20-year-old has long been touted with north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham, with Wolves also linked since the end of the top flight campaign.
City’s sporting director Stuart Webber has made it clear it will take a club record offer to consider parting with any of their best talent.
Norwich did confirm a move for Sunderland youngster Bali Mumba, who they view as a right back option, earlier this week, while Sam Byram is on course to be in contention for the new campaign after a hamstring injury.
Aarons’ team mate, Teemu Pukki, is another who has been linked with a Carrow Road summer exit. Turkish club Besiktas held exploratory talks with the Finn’s representative but Sky Sports report on Thursday they are closing in on a €2m deal for former Arsenal frontman Chuba Akpom.
The ex-England Under-21 international is currently with POAK Salonika.
Pukki endured a barren end to the Premier League season after suffering a foot injury at Leicester in December. Daniel Farke reiterated following the defeat to Manchester City he wants Pukki on board for the Championship fightback, although his international boss, Markku Kanerva, feels he has done enough to earn a move to a club operating in any of the top leagues across Europe.
