Norwich City transfer rumours: German international touted with Canaries

SC Freiburg centre back Robin Koch is being touted with a January move to the Premier League - with City reportedly in the mix.
The Sun claim the Canaries, along with Wolves and Leicester, have tracked the 23-year-old who recently broke into the full German squad. The Foxes reportedly sent scouts to watch Koch over the recent international break, with the highly-rated defender featuring in last week's 4-0 Euro2020 qualifying win over Belarus.
The German international is reportedly under contract until 2021 but has emerged as one of the best young prospects in the German top flight since moving from hometown club Kaiserlautern in 2017. Koch has played a key role in fourth-placed Freiburg's impressive start to the Bundesliga season.
The Sun suggest Norwich will attempt to bolster an injury-ravaged central defence that has conceded 28 goals in 12 Premier League games.
Timm Klose is expected to miss the majority of the campaign, while Grant Hanley and Christoph Zimmermann are only closing in on returns following longer term injuries.
Alex Tettey was deployed in an emergency shift alongside Ben Godfrey prior to the international break, while Ibrahim Amadou has also been used in an unaccustomed defensive role since his summer loan move from Sevilla.
VERDICT: No surprise Norwich would be linked with central defensive reinforcements after an horrendous run with injuries, and the German market is clearly one Daniel Farke and Stuart Webber know better than most. But if Koch is on the radar of the likes of Leicester and Wolves, City would be unable to match their Premier League rivals' financial clout or the prospect of being able to compete for top six football this season and beyond.
Given Freiburg have got themselves into contention for European qualification in their own domestic league it appears unlikely they would entertain offers for Koch, particularly as his value could rocket if he is a key part of Germany's squad at Euro2020 next summer.
