Ex-Ipswich man turned Eagle Jamie Scowcroft was forced to endure another painful Saturday afternoon in Norwich.

“I've only ever won here once so it's hardly been a happy hunting ground for me,” said Scowcroft after Palace suffered their third 1-0 defeat in a row.

“It was a tough result for us to take, but it's been like that for the last three games. We have just come up short in all three of them and it's been very frustrating to say the least.

“I am not going to say that we deserved to win all three games, but it's been frustrating to come off in all three of them having been beaten 1-0 and all three of them have been very close.

“There weren't a lot of chances in the game and in the end one set piece was the only difference between the two teams.

“I definitely thought we should have had a penalty though when (Dion) Dublin handled, but unfortunately the referee just didn't see it. Sometimes the referee gives them and sometimes he doesn't. Today he didn't.”

Team-mate Danny Butterfield, recalled to the right back slot to keep an eye on City dangerman Darren Huckerby, said: “We defended well for the 90 minutes so it was disappointing to concede from the set piece.

“We thought we were unlucky to get beat, but we needed a bit of luck and we just didn't get it.

“W know we have got a good enough squad to be there or thereabouts at the end of the season, but there comes a time when you have to start doing it on the pitch and the sooner the better as far as we are concerned.

“It's all about getting results and we need to start doing that now. We have got a big game at home to Coventry on Tuesday and we have to put things right then.”
