The Wales international has put pen to paper on a three-year contract extension at Eastlands, which will tie him to the club until 2011.

The 19-year-old made a big impression at Carrow Road last season, scoring 10 goals in 20 games and becoming a firm favourite with the fans.

But with former Wales manager Mark Hughes now in charge at Manchester City, Evans is hoping he'll be given the chance to impress in the top flight when August arrives.

“With the new manager here now, I think I'll get a chance to impress,” said Evans. “I went to Germany and now I'm away with the squad in the Faroe Isles (for the Uefa Cup tie against EB Streymur), so that gives me the confidence that he'll give youth a chance.”

Having regularly hit the net for Wales under-21s, current Wales manager gave Evans his debut against Iceland during the summer, and the striker duly scored.

“Another three years takes me up until I'm 22 so it's good to not have to worry about things for a while. It's important to be playing first team football and hopefully I can do that here.”

However, Norwich will be among a host of Championship clubs looking to secure Evans on loan for the coming season should he not get his chance at Eastlands, with Cardiff and Queens Park Rangers said to be keeping a close eye on events.
