Tim Krul admits that watching Norwich City’s youngsters develop over the past two season has been a special experience.
City have a quartet of talent that have all seen their names linked to some of the biggest clubs in Europe alongside some eye-watering price tags.
Todd Cantwell and Emi Buendia were omitted from the travelling party for City’s 1-0 defeat to AFC Bournemouth on Sunday - with City boss Daniel Farke publicly slamming their performances in training.
Jamal Lewis has already departed the club for a Premier League return with Newcastle United - but Krul is hopeful that City can hold onto the rest of their best talent.
“If they’re all apparently worth £50million, then I’m interested to know how much I’m worth still!,” Krul jokingly responded. “We’ve got some exciting talent. It’s great to see them grow.
“When I came to the club two years ago, some of them weren’t even in the squad. It’s great to see Jamal signing for Newcastle, my old team, for £15m and we’ve got some more exciting talent at this club.
“Hopefully we can keep them because that will give us an extra boost to get back up.”
Krul believes the additions this summer have made the Canaries collectively stronger. The 32-year-old is pleased to see further experience enter the building to help City mount a promotion charge this season.
As a player who feeds off the energy provided by the supporters, Krul admits to finding life behind closed doors difficult.
“It’s got such a friendly, pre-season feel to it. Especially when the sun is shining. It’s hard to keep switched on.
“We have to find the pressure within ourselves. We need to keep the pressure high and our standards have to be at the top level to get out of this league.
“We all know what this league is about - it’s unforgiving. We’ve got 43 games to go in a short space of time and the winter is coming,” Krul told TalkSport.
“The good thing is we have a lot of experience in this team now. Even though we’re young, we’ve got some exciting talent that has been added to this group and there’s a lot of confidence within it as well.
“We feel like we’ve got a squad that’s capable of competing for the top places.”
