Voting for the EFL Young Player of the Season award has started, with Norwich City star Max Aarons vying for the prestigious gong.
Aarons has been nominated for the award ahead of the 2019 EFL Awards being held on Sunday, April 7 at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane in London, when awards will be given out across 13 categories.
Young Player of the Season sponsor EA Sports is now hosting an online vote, equating to 25pc of the overall result, with the other 75pc made up of votes from the EFL Awards judging panel.
THE BIG INTERVIEW: Aarons ‘loving life’ as superb breakthrough City season picks up pace
The England Under-19 international right-back is nominated alongside Derby midfielder Harry Wilson, who is on loan from Premier League side Liverpool, as well as James Justin, the left-back for League One leaders Luton Town.
Aarons has also been named in the Sky Bet Championship Team of the Season following his impressive breakthrough campaign for the Canaries, alongside team-mates Jamal Lewis and Teemu Pukki.
City’s academy product follows in the footsteps of James Maddison, who was nominated for the EFL Young Player of the Season award and named in the Championship team for 2017-18, with Fulham left-back Ryan Sessegnon winning the award ahead of Maddison – who went on to join Leicester City in a deal potentially worth up to £24million.
We recently spoke to Aarons for an exclusive interview about his season so far and speculation linking him with big clubs including Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham.
