Young Scottish defender Paul Dixon says he is satisfied he made the right decision in resisting the overtures of Norwich City assistant manager Jim Duffy.

The Dundee man, 20, was on City's summer transfer list, and Duffy - who gave Dixon his debut during his time in charge at Dens Park - was the man in the middle, charged with persuading him to move south.

But when City made a bid, Dundee rejected it out of hand and slapped a £100,000 price tag on the head of Dixon, who says he is now content to see out the remaining year of his contract.

Flattering though he said the interest was, he's happy with his lot.

“I saw all the stuff about Norwich bidding for me and that was very flattering, especially as Jim Duffy is someone I've worked with before,” he said. “He's a great coach and I owe him a lot because he gave me my debut here, but I'm a Dundee player and that's all I'm thinking about now.

“I've put the Norwich thing to the back of my mind and, to be honest, I haven't really thought about it since it happened.

“The club chose to reject it so I'm a Dundee player until someone tells me otherwise. That's a situation I'm happy with because I want to help the team win the league this year.”

Dundee boss Alex Rae has now quietly dropped the subject of Dixon leaving.

“The manager hasn't had a word with me about it and I didn't really expect him to because he knows what I'm like and knows that it won't bother me,” Dixon added. “I'm happy here and looking forward to the new season.”
