Crewe defender Jon Otsemobor is set to become a Norwich City player next week if he passes a medical, according to his agent.

Speaking to Staffordshire paper The Sentinel, Otsemobor's agent Eric Walters said: "Jon was impressed with Peter Grant's vision for the future of Norwich and he is very excited about joining him.

"While he has alternatives, he favours Norwich."

Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds were also said to be in the running for the 24 year old, a former Liverpool and England U21 youngster.

Otsemobor joined League One side Crewe from Rotherham on a free transfer at the start of last year.

But he rejected a contract with Crewe in December and wasn't offered fresh terms before the end of the season and is now a free agent.

Norwich boss Peter Grant declared an interest in him two months ago.

Crewe manager Dario Gradi said he wasn't aware of Otsemobor's destination.

"Norwich told us they would be speaking to him, but it's surprising we've heard nothing as we usually have good contacts with them," he said.

"Maybe it is all cut and dried and he has a contract already sorted out with Norwich."

Otsemobor's agent said: "Jon would like to thank Dario (Gradi) and his staff for all their help. This is an important time in his career and he needs to test himself. He feels he has made the right decision."
