Norwich City chairman Roger Munby admitted that Norwich City's FA Cup run could boost manager Peter Grant's transfer coffers.

The Canaries overcame Blackpool in a thrilling FA Cup replay last night and Munby said that any money gained from the club's cup run will go into a “big pot” that Grant could be entitled to a slice of.

City could net more than a quarter of a million pounds from the tie against Jose Mourinho's men as they are due 45 per cent of the Stamford Bridge gate receipt.

Based on an average ticket price of £16, Norwich would be entitled to around £280,000 from the tie plus they gain an extra £60,000 as prize money for reaching the FA Cup fifth round.

Munby admitted that money from these sort of cup runs is always welcome.

“It's hard to predict because it's hard to know what the size of the crowd will be. I don't know if Chelsea will sell out Stamford Bridge but any money gained will certainly be a useful increment.”

“It all goes into a pot and the club is organised so it can deliver Peter the best budget that we can. So in that sense it will boost it.”

Munby hopes that Saturday will not be the end of Norwich's FA Cup journey and harbours real ambition that the Canaries can get to the last eight of the cup.

“As Peter Grant said last night we are not going there on Saturday for a day out - we are going there to win.”
