Striker Jamie Cureton has been thinking over a loan move, City manager Paul Lambert has admitted.

Fellow League One club Gillingham are reported to be keen to take the 34-year-old on a temporary basis.

Cureton has not featured in the squad of 18 for the Canaries' last 14 matches in all competitions, his last appearance coming in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie at Swindon, when he scored the winning penalty in a shoot-out.

"There has been one club I know have inquired about him but the decision is in Jamie's hands at the minute," said Lambert.

"Jamie knows, he's been fine. There's not long to go before the window shuts."

Cureton, who has a career tally of more than 200 goals in English club football, rejoined City from Colchester in the summer of 2007 and his three-year contract ends in June.

"This is his last year, as he knows, and he's got to get playing football for his own sake as well. You've got to think for the long term and what direction the club will go in," said Lambert. The City boss admitted Cureton was down the pecking order among his strikers at the moment. He said: "Cody (McDonald) needed games, he's been about the first team. Dan Kelly was on the bench the other night. He needs games as well. Those lads are ahead of Jamie at the minute. You can't keep everybody happy every single time. "Jamie's been totally fine. I've not had one bit of a problem with him. It's just hard because you can only pick so many players to play in a game."
