Daniel Farke insists Norwich City is too classy a football club to be accused of disrespect.

The Canaries’ head coach refused to bite on Monday afternoon on Sheffield United counterpart Chris Wilder’s verbal assault following City’s 1-0 Championship win.

Farke, however, reiterated any charge of gamesmanship is well wide of the mark.

“No-one in this club deserves to be connected with accusations of being disrespectful,” he said. “Norwich is such a big club and when you work for a club like this as a manager or a player or part of the staff you always have to do your work with style and quality. You have to feel responsible for representing the club and that is what we always do. I have had a great relationship with other managers already.

“I spoke to Nigel Clough for 20 minutes and we spoke about the club and how we conduct ourselves in public, the same with Harry Redknapp, who had really good words about this club and our behaviour. We are known as a well-educated, respected club that is open-minded and friendly. It is important when you want to be there with quality and style not to react to any accusations.

“I won’t mention the words that were spoken in the direction of me or my staff, I won’t mention the bottles being thrown at my players or some really awful fouls in that game and I won’t mention the things that were said after the game. I have to concentrate on my job and work with style and quality.”
