Blackpool fans who chose not to make the 560-mile round trip to Carrow Road were probably counting their blessings after their team's defeat to Norwich City.

But a group of keen supporters who opted for a speedier - and more costly - trip to the FA Cup tie got no closer to the action than their armchair counterparts.

A couple of charter planes were due to take off from Blackpool Airport, with 100 fans on board, but one aircraft suffered technical problems and never reached Norwich.

The travel company behind the trip managed to find another plane, which took off at 6pm, but 30 people were left without transport and missed the game altogether.

Those that did make it had a frantic dash from Norwich International Airport to Carrow Road - and their misery was compounded when rookie Chris Martin fired in the winner in extra time.

Meanwhile, the fans stranded in Blackpool have been offered a refund and £100 compensation.
