Norwich City have announced plans for a third East Anglian derby next season - and like the two Championship fixtures against Ipswich Town it is sure to be extremely well contested!

Former players from both clubs will be crossing swords once again at Carrow Road on Sunday, September 3 in a fund-raising fixture for the Canaries' Historical Trust, a charity set up to maintain and preserve all aspects of the club's history.

The teams will be led by Bryan Gunn and Simon Milton, who were regular derby rivals in their time, and they are likely to be joined by the likes of Darren Eadie, Robert Fleck, Dale Gordon, Chris Kiwomya, John Wark and Jason Dozzell.

There will be a parade of ex-players at the ground from 2pm with the match kicking off at 3pm. From 5.30pm after the game, a celebratory dinner will take place in the Norfolk Lounge with all living former players invited to attend.

City skipper Gunn said he was looking forward to the reunion.

“Of course we're used to playing Ipswich Town in the Championship, but it will be nice to get some familiar faces from the past to come along and join in the fun,” he said.

“I'm sure Simon Milton has a few of his ex-Ipswich team-mates up his sleeve, although we'll probably be fighting over Trevor Putney, having represented both clubs.

“Hopefully a lot of fans will turn up to see the rivalry which still exists between us - and may the best team win!”

Spectators will be seated in the Jarrold Stand only for the match, with tickets priced at £5 for adults and £2 concessions.
