Dion Dublin was today rated “very, very doubtful” for City's Championship match against Wolves at Carrow Road tomorrow night (7.45pm) after injuring his ankle in the FA Cup tie at Blackpool.

Dion Dublin was today rated “very, very doubtful” for City's Championship match against Wolves at Carrow Road tomorrow night (7.45pm) after injuring his ankle in the FA Cup tie at Blackpool.

But manager Peter Grant said he would give the 37-year-old until the last possible minute to prove his fitness.

Grant said: “I'm not going to rule him out until the last moment. He's feeling better than he was yesterday and that's a positive but I still think he'll be struggling.

“It felt a little bit easier today but if I was a betting man I don't think he'll be playing.

“The decision will be down to Dion and I will give him as late as possible.”

Defender Jason Shackell, who missed the Blackpool game with an injured left ankle, was said to be “struggling” and has not trained fully since before the 3-1 home defeat by Plymouth a fortnight ago.

And Grant said there was no possibility of recalling club captain Craig Fleming from Wolves because it was not permitted in the first month of a loan.

It means midfielder Carl Robinson is favourite to continue in the centre of defence after playing there for the final half hour of the game at Blackpool.

Midfielder Andy Hughes was also ruled out of Saturday's game with a swollen thigh after he was injured in training last Thursday and he too is rated very doubtful for tomorrow night.

Grant said it was very unlikely he would be able to bring in a new signing in time for the Wolves game because of the deadline of midday today for any new player to be registered.

City will also be without striker Chris Brown tomorrow following his sending off at Blackpool, which earned him a one match ban.
