Etuhu: We lacked any fighting spirit

Dickson Etuhu admitted Norwich City had no "heart" and were not up for the fight during the 5-0 demolition at Stoke on Saturday.

But the midfielder vowed the side would bounce back and beat Colchester United at Carrow Road on Tuesday.

Like almost all of his team-mates, Etuhu, who has been among City's better performers this season, was well below par against the Potters.

However, he said he could not put his finger on why the team were so bad against Tony Pulis' side.

"I just thought we never had enough fight," he said. "We didn't fight and weren't aggressive and they beat us to that. They're not better footballers than us, we're much better footballers than them, but sometimes in football that's not enough and it showed.

"We had a good plan, we had a great plan to come up here and the gaffer got us so we all knew what we were doing out there.

"But I didn't think enough of us had heart, we didn't have enough fight today. I don't know why that was.

"That goes for myself and for everybody. Everybody was not themselves today and who can you blame but ourselves?"

Now Etuhu says the team have to put the defeat behind them and pick themselves off the floor for Geraint William's side, who beat Southampton 2-0.

"We're a good team, we've let it go now, well I've let it go, and I'm sure the boys are the same," he said. "We're going to go and play against Colchester and we're going to beat Colchester. They're not going to come to our place and try and beat us, we're going to beat them. Simple as that.

"Every team gets beaten. 5-0 is not nice, but we'll take it on the chin and obviously show people we can recover from that and that's what we have to do on Tuesday."
