Norwich City transfer rumours: City linked with former Leeds goalkeeper

Reports in Italy are linking former Leeds United goalkeeper Marco Silvestri with a move to Norwich City.
The goalkeeper has been a mainstay for Serie A side Hellas Verona, who sit 8th in the table and are battling for a European place when the season resumes following the coronavirus suspension.
Silvestri has established himself as a first-choice goalkeeper this season, after dipping in and out of the team since joining from Leeds United in 2017.
The 29-year-old was the hero in a League Cup penalty shoot-out win over the Canaries in 2016, with Silvestri saving three efforts to help Leeds reach the quarter-finals for the first time 20 years.
City’s Premier League rivals Southampton and Everton have also been linked with a move for the goalkeeper, according to Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb.
City could opt to strengthen that position following Ralf Fahrmann’s loan spell at the club was cut short.
Tim Krul has consolidated that position with a string of impressive performances this season, although head coach Daniel Farke was keen to express the competition provided by Fahrmann has pushed the Dutch keeper to improve.
Whether City possess the finances to tempt Silvestri away from Hellas Verona without the guarantee of a starting position remains unclear.
The goalkeeper has a year left on his current contract in Italy.
