MATCHDAY LIVE: United score late to deny City another FA Cup shoot-out

Norwich City take part in their first FA Cup quarter-final in over 28 years when they host Manchester United this evening - and our reporters are at Carrow Road to bring you all the updates, analysis and reaction.
The Canaries beat Southampton 2-1 after extra-time at Carrow Road in March 1992, sealing a place in the semi-finals for just the third time in the club’s history, thanks to a late Chris Sutton header.
However, City have enjoyed little success in the FA Cup ever since and finally have another chance to fight for another semi-final when they take on United at 5.30pm - although without supporters as football continues behind closed doors amid the UK’s recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.
Daniel Farke’s team won 4-2 at Preston in the third round as Adam Idah became the club’s youngest ever hat-trick scorer, then 2-1 at Burnley thanks to goals from Grant Hanley and Josip Drmic.
It was Drmic on target with the equaliser in the fifth round at Tottenham as well, taking the game to extra-time and then a penalty shoot-out after a 1-1 draw, with Tim Krul becoming the hero with two saves in a 5-3 success.
Krul’s penalty saving expertise was shown earlier in the Premier League season as well, as he restricted the Red Devils during a 3-1 defeat at Carrow Road in October, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team romped to a 4-0 win in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford in January.
United beat top-flight rivals Wolves 1-0 in a replay in the third round, then eased to a 6-0 win at Tranmere and a 3-0 victory at Derby to continue in the search for the club’s 13th FA Cup triumph.
The two clubs haven’t clashed in the world’s oldest club competition since 1994, when goals from Eric Cantona and Roy Keane earned the Red Devils a 2-0 win at Carrow Road in the fourth round - the season after United had edged out Villa and Norwich in the battle for the inaugural Premier League title.
