Daniel Farke has warned Norwich City they will have to fight fire with fire to match 'aggressive' Ipswich Town in Sunday's Championship derby.

Farke knows what to expect from his first East Anglian duel and the type of threat from Mick McCarthy’s Blues at Portman Road.

“It is a team that plays with a lot of aggressiveness. They will have a fighting attitude a big will to have a home win,” he said. “We have to be prepared for those duels but also to bring out abilities and strengths.

“They had a really good start to the season and although the last games were not so good at home they will be full of confidence.

“There is always something special about a derby. I am used to this. In Germany it is Dortmund against Schalke 04, that is the most important game of the year. I have spoken about how you are only allowed to speak about the postcodes, not the rival teams, there is a lot of emotion. We know this is a big game and we are looking forward to it.”

Farke, speaking to Norwich’s Youtube channel, is desperate to make it nine games unbeaten in a derby rivalry that has been kind to the Canaries since 2009.

“In the last days we know how much it means for the city, the people and the whole club,” he said. “There is a big rivalry and it is a special game. It will be a high intensity game but we are prepared.

“Sometimes it is easier these games because you don’t have to motivate the players. You know they will give everything and will bring their passion. It is more about pointing out things and working on the contents and to have a plan to beat Ipswich.

“It is not only about emotion and aggressiveness. We are trying to point out the strengths and weaknesses.”
