Norwich City's modest revival has got the dressing room buzzing, according to skipper Mark Fotheringham. Norwich City's modest revival has got the dressing room buzzing, according to skipper Mark Fotheringham.

The Canaries are unbeaten in three matches since Bryan Gunn took temporary charge after Glenn Roeder's sacking almost three weeks ago, and probably should have had at least two wins to their name, having let a two-goal lead slip at home to relegation rivals Southampton.

The Gunn effect has seen Norwich finally end their losing run of five league games away from Carrow Road and Fotheringham believes a corner could finally have been turned in what has proved another turbulent Championship campaign.

“The boys are all buzzing and we're looking forward to Tuesday now and a big important home game against Bristol City at home,” said the 25-year-old.

“If you look at our form away from home, it's pathetic.

“Norwich should be winning games away from home and taking points out of these games.

“We're playing well. The last few games we were unlucky, but we're starting to get the luck.

“There's good people in charge, they're looking after the lads, the lads feel important and the most important thing for me is the lads feel proud to play for Norwich, because it's a great club.

“We get 25,000 fans at home. Okay, they're on your backs sometimes when it's not going well but the majority of them back you through thick and thin.

“The lads here, the boys on loan as well, should feel privileged to play for this team because there's been some great players down the years played for Norwich like Chippy.

“And a guy with Bryan Gunn's experience, it's not bad having a guy like that in charge here.

“He's played several hundred games for the first team and is a former Scottish international, worked under Sir Alex Ferguson.”

Fotheringham will serve a one-match ban tomorrow after picking up his fifth booking of the season against Southampton and with Darel Russell facing a fight to be fit after receiving an elbow to his eye on Friday night against Doncaster, the Norwich skipper admitted his disappointment at missing the trip to Molineux - although he is confident the Norwich squad has enough strength in depth to pull through and get a result at the home of the league leaders.

“I'm absolutely devastated that I'm suspended, because I feel I'm back to form now and I'm enjoying my football at the moment under Bryan Gunn,” he admitted.

“It's short of numbers, but we've got guys like Simon Lappin and David Carney who's come in, so I'm sure they will fill into the centre of midfield role no problem.”

“They're good quality players and guys like Simon will be raring to go now,” Fotheringham added, reserving special praise for the fellow Scot he arrived with at Norwich, two years ago last Saturday.

“He's been training excellent under Bryan and I'm sure Gunny is going to keep him in his plans and give him a chance sooner or later, because I think he feels he was hard done under the previous regime,” Fotheringham added.

“I've got nothing for respect for him. He's 100pc, he's a professional guy, he never caused any problems in his situation and people forget his last game under Glenn was a game when the whole team never played well down at Plymouth, and the week before he got man of the match against Ipswich at home.

“Some managers make decisions when they come in, but he's got a very strong character. He's a good lad, he's going to be working hard and I'm sure he'll get his chance.”
