Italian giants AC Milan have reportedly met with Ben Godfrey’s representatives over a potential transfer - with Napoli set to hold talks with his agents next week.
The 22-year-old’s representatives held face-to-face talks with Milan in a hotel in the city, according to reputable Italian outlet CalcioMercato.
According to the report, Norwich City value Godfrey at £30m and are unlikely to budge from their valuation of the player - who is contracted to the club until 2023.
The defender is highly-sought after, with Roma also linked with a move for the England Under-21 international.
Godfrey has made 30 appearances for the Canaries this season and has been a constant member of City’s depleted back-line due to an injury crisis which has seen Daniel Farke without three centre-backs consistently throughout the season.
Former Manchester United defender and England international Rio Ferdinand is mentoring the centre-back and works for Godfrey’s agents, New Era Global Sports.
Ferdinand has often talked up Godfrey on national television and is tipping City’s defender to achieve great things in the game.
Godfrey joined City from boyhood club York City in 2016 and has emerged as one of the country’s most highly-sought after prospects after impressing for City in the Premier League.
Farke reiterated the Canaries desire to retain their prized assets this summer - with the club aiming to mount a promotion push back to the top-flight next season.
The German converted the 22-year-old into a central defender after a successful loan stint with Shrewsbury Town. Farke stated that Godfrey could become a ‘world class’ defender and it is now considered his strongest position.
Speaking about speculation surrounding Godfrey’s future in December, Farke said: “It’s quite normal when you are doing quite well and he, without any doubt, has done fantastically during the last year and when there is a young player with such potential, that you have to handle some rumours.
“We have to handle this through the whole season. It’s quite normal that he attracts attention when he is doing well on this level but he has also signed a long-term contract and we are quite calm because our financial situation is quite relaxed.”
