Life after Norwich City for Nelson Oliveira has been given a helping hand in Greece, after a double helping of good fortune during an AEK Athens victory.

The Portugal international striker's time in Norfolk came to an end this summer, leaving on a permanent deal after a season in the shadows at City, having fallen out of favour under Daniel Farke.

Oliveira joined AEK and has three goals and five assists to his name from 10 games so far, scoring and forcing an own goal in a 3-2 home win over Atromitos in the Greek Super League on Sunday.

The first fortunate incident arrived in the 62nd minute, when the 28-year-old cut in from the right wing and blasted a powerful low left-footed shot against the base of the right-hand post, with the ball cannoning back off the woodwork and into the net off the back of the visiting keeper.

Nine minutes later the striker claimed the lead, closing down 18-year-old keeper Christos Mandas, whose terrible touch allowed Oliveira to ease past him and thump into an empty net from point-blank range.

The former Nottingham Forest and Swansea loanee was signed from Benfica for around £5million in August 2016 and scored 20 goals in 70 matches for the Canaries.
