Alan Gow's proposed move to Norwich City is “up in the air”, having been sidetracked by news of a possible takeover bid at Carrow Road.

The Rangers midfielder was in Norwich two weeks ago today to look at the facilities and talk to manager Glenn Roeder.

But five days later the EDP revealed billionaire Peter Cullum's ambitions to take control of the club - and since then the Gow trail has gone cold.

The 25-year-old is currently training with Rangers, while his agent, Phil McTaggart is patiently waiting for the phone to ring.

“I spoke to (chief executive) Neil Doncaster yesterday and he said he was going to speak to the manager and call me back but I haven't heard from him yet,” McTaggart said.

“He said he had been very busy with all the takeover talk and other things that he simply hadn't been able to give me an answer.

“It's two weeks now since we went down to Norwich and it would be nice to get it sorted out. It's up in the air at the moment, and as far as I know, the deal is still on - if it wasn't on I believe they would have told me by now.”

The transfer fee for Gow is thought to be in the region of £250,000, but while the takeover news may have interrupted its progress, City's chief executive rejected suggestions that it had also prompted a transfer freeze at Carrow Road, as reported in one Scottish newspaper.

“We don't comment on transfer speculation but you can rest assured there is no transfer freeze at Carrow Road,” said Doncaster.
