Peter Grant says Norwich City's supporters have been the one success story of the season.

The Canaries boss joined the players on a lap of acknowledgement of the fans after Saturday's home defeat by Southampton, and said the passion of the supporters was driving him to achieve more next season.

“We owe them and we will try our damnedest to make sure that that is going to be a lap of honour for going back to the Premier League, hopefully next season,” he said.

“That's the only consistent thing we've had this season. I was critical of them earlier in my tenure, but they have been fantastic - absolutely fabulous.

“You feel a bit embarrassed going out to the fans after a loss but they have been magnificent, and that's what makes me more and more determined to make sure we can get this club back challenging and competing with the best.

“That's what we've got to do because that's what our support demands and deserves and hopefully we can see a more fruitful campaign next season. We know we've one game left to go and we'll be doing our utmost to finish the season on a high with victory.

“We are very disappointed today, but hopefully we'll have a lot better good days than bad days we've had in recent months.”
