Simon Grayson believes his team's Carrow Road display proves they can still claim one of the automatic promotion places.

Leeds' form has faltered badly since the turn of the year and they are clinging on to second spot by virtue of the difference of just one goal over Millwall.

But Grayson was encouraged by the way they performed against the Canaries - even though their hopes were shattered by Chris Martin's late goal.

“I thought from start to finish we dominated the game,” said the Elland Road boss. “We dictated possession of the ball, we set up a shape to stifle them and it certainly worked, but we looked a good team today.

“We worked hard, we passed the ball around, and I thought we were going to be the only team that was going to win it.

“Obviously we didn't threaten as much as we would like to in and around that 18-yard area, but I couldn't see Norwich scoring, we totally dictated things.

“But football has a funny way of kicking you where it hurts at times. We are disappointed, but there are a lot of positives to be drawn from today, especially after the way we played (against Millwall) on Monday night. The players have responded really well and if we play like that for the rest of the season then we will get to where we want to get to.

“Unfortunately we couldn't do the hardest thing in football, and that's put the ball in the back of the net.”

Grayson made give changes to his team and altered their set-up to reflect City's diamond.

He said: “We changed the system to try and stifle Norwich's system because I know that Wes (Hoolahan) is a good player, and he can effect them, but also I knew that the personnel that we were bringing in could bring the ball down and pass it better than we have done over the last few weeks, and we showed that today.”
