Goalkeeper Robert Green is definitely ruled out of Norwich City's final Coca-Cola Championship match of the season against Wolves.

Manager Nigel Worthington today confirmed he would not rush the 26-year-old England World Cup hopeful back into action for Sunday's clash at Carrow Road (1.30pm) - but said Green was well on the road to recovery from the ankle injury he suffered in the warm-up before the Easter Saturday game at Sheffield Wednesday.

“Robert won't play on Sunday but he is coming on very, very well. He just won't be quite fit enough for Sunday. Hopefully by the middle of next week he'll be pretty much there,” said Worthington.

With the announcement of Sven-Goran Eriksson's squad for Germany less than a fortnight away, City are determined not to risk aggravating the injury and jeopardising Green's chances of selection.

“England are aware of the situation and they're happy with it. He's got to get himself fit and, rather than push him for this Sunday and risk further injury prior to World Cup selection, we want to be sure he's 100 per cent right,” said Worthington.

Green's absence is likely to give Scotland international Paul Gallacher, thinking over a new contract offer with City, further chance to impress the home crowd with a fourth successive first-team outing.

Striker Leon McKenzie, sidelined for the last three matches by the hip injury he suffered at Preston, has an outside chance of returning against Wolves.

“He trained yesterday and has a little bit of a shout of being in contention.”

Otherwise, Worthington has a long list of absentees as the season draws to a close.

“Jason Shackell's ankle operation went well but it's going to be pre-season before we see him or Youssef Safri,” he said.

Michael Spillane's chances of a fourth senior appearance have been dashed by an ankle injury, while striker Peter Thorne has had wisdom teeth removed and will not figure either.

Long-term absentees are Matthieu Louis-Jean and departing 'keeper Darren Ward.

About 200 seats for Sunday's Wolves match went on sale to Norwich fans today, from the ticket offices at Carrow Road and Castle Mall or by calling 0870 444 1902, priced at £24 for adults, £16 for senior citizens and students and £9 for under-16s.

There will also be a limited number of buy-back tickets on sale at Carrow Road at 11.30am on Sunday on a one-per-person basis.
