Philip Heise is heading back to Norwich City after a dramatic escape from relegation with Nuernberg - after a frustrating loan stint in Bundesliga Two.
Heise created three goals in 11 games but just five of those were starts, as he fell out of favour towards the end of the campaign, with his loan club finishing in the relegation play-off position.
That meant facing Ingolstadt of the third tier and after being an unused substitute during a 2-0 home win in the first leg, he wasn’t in the squad as Nuernberg slumped to 3-0 down away from home, before snatching the all important away goal in the sixth minute of injury-time.
Heise, 29, mostly featured on the left wing during his loan spell and saw his head coach changed ahead of the play-off. The German joined Norwich for a nominal fee from Dynamo Dresden in January 2019 with his contract expiring.
He is under contract at City until 2022 but has made just one senior appearance so far.
