Norwich City’s players have started returning to team training today, in small groups at Colney, with winger Onel Hernandez involved following his knee injury.

The Canaries have released a short video of Teemu Pukki, Mario Vrancic and Hernandez heading out to the training pitches at the Lotus Training Centre.

Premier League teams have stepped up training this week but there is no contact allowed, with social distancing still in place and stringent hygiene measures in place.

The presence of Hernandez is a good sign as well, as the Cuban attacker had knee surgery in February which was expected to keep him out for most of the rest of the season, prior to football’s suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic in mid-March.

Photos released by City have also featured other fit-again players in defenders Timm Klose and Sam Byram, with Hertha Berlin loanee Ondrej Duda also still with Daniel Farke’s squad.

Clubs are reportedly restricted to working with players in two groups of five for 75-minute spells, before the next set of players arrive, with players arriving and leaving in their kit as changing and canteen facilities are still not in use.

Premier League clubs voted through Step One of the Return to Training Protocol on Monday and will reportedly vote on Step Two next week, which would allow a return to full contact training with stringent hygiene precautions still in place, ahead of a potential resumption of the season on June 12.

The Canaries sit bottom of the table with nine games still to play, six points from safety.
