Player of the year Darren Huckerby has admitted his next season with Norwich City could be his last. Player of the year Darren Huckerby has admitted his next season with Norwich City could be his last.

The 31-year-old star forward, who has one year left on his contract with the Canaries, completed a clean sweep of end-of-season awards when he added three more trophies to the Barry Butler Memorial Trophy he collected before Saturday's final home game against Southampton.

But the fans' favourite is taking it one year at a time from now on.

“I'm going to slow up sooner rather than later, but hopefully they can get another season out of me and maybe one more,” said Huckerby at the Anglian Player of the Season awards dinner at Carrow Road.

“But at the minute I'm taking every season as it comes. I've got a one-year contract and after that it might be time to hang up my boots.

“I think I'm playing well. There's always levels you think you can improve on. I'm playing pretty consistently but I think I can still cause more problems for teams.”

Huckerby became the seventh man to win the player of the season award twice but told the club's official website he would love to be the first to do the treble.

“It's a bit of an honour to have won it twice, so it would be good to get the hat-trick next year,” he said.

Huckerby was also first choice of Capital Canaries, Norwich City Independent Supporters' Association and the Ambassadors' Club. He completed a nap hand by winning goal of the season for his great solo effort in the 1-0 win against Birmingham at Carrow Road in March.

The Flybe Young Player of the Year trophy went to 18-year-old Chris Martin, who has scored five senior goals and grabbed the only goal on his debut for England Under-19s against Turkey.
