Paul Ince sympathised with the Canaries over the penalty that decided last night's League One contest - but the MK Dons boss was adamant his team were well worth three points.

Substitute Peter Leven's 77th-minute spot-kick settled the match after City goalscorer Chris Martin was adjudged to have tripped Lewis Gobern, but Ince was far from convinced it was a foul.

He said: "I personally don't think it was a penalty. It could have gone either way.

"I can go back to when we played Hartlepool here, when we played Swindon away - there were two blatant penalties we didn't get.

"But you can go on about the penalty. At the end of the day, Stevie Gleeson could have had two goals, and Jemal Johnson. We had enough clear-cut chances to put the game to bed."

Ince argued that his side's two second-half goals - the first from Jason Puncheon's free-kick - did not signify a game of two halves after Martin had given City the lead inside 17 seconds.

He said: "It wasn't a turnaround. I think it was a shock conceding the goal but after that they didn't have a shot in the first half. We had most of the play, most of the possession, so really it was a case of a bit more belief that you can actually get something from the game. We showed that."

I'm so pleased because Norwich are a very good side, they came down from the Championship. It is testament to our players.

"Not only did we claw our way back but we looked as if we could have had five or six, to be honest."

MK Dons moved into fifth place with their televised victory and Ince anticipates a fascinating battle for promotion places.

He said: "It is a good league - that is why it was important for Sky to be here. It was important we put on a good advert for football in League One."
