Developing youngster Jamal Lewis is making the most of every day with the Norwich City first team squad during pre-season.
The 19-year-old has been involved in all of City’s friendly games so far, playing at left wing-back, with the more experienced Harry Toffolo missing the last three games with a muscle strain.
Lewis was signed from Luton Town in 2014 and signed a two-year professional deal last summer, with the club retaining the option for a further 12 months, and has been impressing under new head coach Daniel Farke so far.
“It’s been a great experience for me,” the Northern Ireland Under-21 international said.
“The quality of football and the tempo is very high. It’s been great to be in a first team environment.
“Everyone is getting used to the new system under the boss and it gives the full-backs more of a free role. It’s been enjoyable to play in and learn the ropes.
“I’ve been at the club for three years now, going into my fourth. I’ve really enjoyed the process of it all.”
Lewis was a key part of the Canaries’ under-18 squad which reached the sixth round of the FA Youth Cup in 2016 and has had a familiar face from that team help him ease into the senior set-up.
“My close friend Ben (Godfrey) has first team experience,” he added, speaking to City’s official website.
“I’ve been with him quite a bit but the likes of Russ (Martin) and Steven Naismith have been very welcoming. They’ve helped me and given me good advice.
“I’m quite a hard-working person anyway so they told me to keep doing that and everything will pay off in due time.
“Hard work is a staple of my training and my games. I hope that everyone is able to see that.”
