Former Norwich City winger Matt Jarvis has described his debut for the club as ‘the best in his career’ as he recalled his role in City’s 3-1 win over the Cherries in 2015.

The 33-year-old netted the third goal in a display that saw him introduce himself to the Carrow Road with an impressive individual performance.

Jarvis cut inside onto his left foot before dispatching the ball into the top left-hand corner of the net.

City's new recruits Ondrej Duda and Lukas Rupp will be looking to make a similar mark should they make their debuts at Carrow Road this Saturday.

Speaking about that debut, Jarvis said:"It's fair to say you don't make many debuts like that! It was an incredible game, topped off with a goal and a 3-1 win.

"Fantastic memories for me and for it to be my first game at Carrow Road as well was brilliant. It was the best debut I've ever had for any club.

"When you go to a new team, you always want to do well. To score in your first game, it helps you settle in a lot quicker, I think. The performance the team put in as a whole was massive and to win meant it was a really good day for everyone.

"You put some much emotion and hard work into everything you do, so when it all goes right and you score, the passion and desire just comes out as pure emotion."

Jarvis joined the Canaries from West Ham United initially on loan following City's promotion from the Championship. He later signed a permanent deal but saw his spell at Carrow Road cursed by injuries.

"I would probably say that, at the point, that's the best condition I've ever been in really," he explained.

"Physically, I was ridiculously fit, strong and ready to roll and you want to set your stall out and show everyone what you can do. To put in a performance like that on debut and to score as well, is what dreams are made of.

"You want to hit the ground running; Robbie Brady and I had a great understanding. It just clicked right from the start."

Jarvis left the club last summer upon the expiry of his contract and is yet to find a new club.
