Paulton Rovers president Les Rogers has revealed the Bristol side are still feeling the legacy of their FA Cup first round clash against Norwich City in 2009.

City hammered Rovers 7-0 as Paul Lambert's side eased past the amateur side thanks to goals from Chris Martin (4), Grant Holt (2) and Wes Hoolahan.

However, the result was academic to the hosts, who made the most out of the national coverage their date with the Canaries provided.

"When you get to the first round you've got to play the best side that's left in the competition at your own ground and that's what happened to us," said Rogers, whose side were playing in the Southern League Premier Division One South at the time, the same level as Lowestoft Town currently play at. "I suppose it's like winning the lottery wasn't it?

"It was probably a once in a lifetime thing. First of all we had money from ITV and then there was the advertising around the ground and altogether we made a six figure sum."

In an interview with the BBC he added: "For a club like this to make that sort of money, it's unbelievable.

"The club over the last 10 years has prospered and it's all to do with one game and we will go on doing it for a few more years.

"A lot of that money is still here. The club has been refurbished, the football team has run for the last 10 years so all in all we are happy."
