Having knocked seven past Grays last week, City Reserves were on top form yet again yesterday when they put five past Luton Town at Kenilworth Road.

Although the Hatters fielded a strong side, with the likes of Sam Parkin, Darren Currie and former Canary favourite Paul McVeigh, in their starting line-up, they were no match for the Canaries, with Chris Martin following on from his brace last week with a hat-trick.

City opened their account on 13 minutes as Rossi Jarvis set Robert Eagle away down the left flank and when he whipped in a low cross there was Martin with a diving header to beat Marlon Beresford at the near post.

Matthew Gilks frustrated Dean Morgan when he made a point blank save and moments later the stopper was again on hand to foil the Luton front man when he guessed correctly to turn a penalty around the post.

It was a pivotal point in the game as, just minutes left before the break, Martin fired in his second with a shot across goal.

Shortly after the break Gilks had to be alert to save a shot from Lewis Emanuel but seconds later City were three up when Martin completed his hat-trick when he collected the ball with his back to goal before turning and firing the ball past Beresford.

The keeper had a moment he would rather forget on 89 minutes when he tried to dribble the ball past City substitute Korey Smith, who robbed him to fire his first goal for the club.

City completed the scoring deep into stoppage time with an all-family affair when Ross Kelly combined with brother Danny, who scored his first goal at reserve team level.
